Blessingingeh is a way to think about another biblical concept, which is shalom. The centre of gravity of it is the ability to reproduce yet life. And that's not often what we mean when we say bless you. So then god creates humans, same story, and he appoints humans to be his image, male and female, and to rule. Then he gives them the same blessing as he gives to the fish and to the birds, which is to be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth. But then he gives a fourth, the bonus blessing yet,. which is to rule over.
