The Importance of Human Rights in the Early Church

If the idea of human rights comes from Christianity, as you claimed, then why during the first 1500 years of the church's history did the church not have it? Some people would say that they were one of the first people in the history of the world to kind of start to work out a doctrine of human rights. But again, the raw material was in the Bible where it wasn't in a lot of other cultures.
