Rails Generators vs. Engines

I've seen different approaches to this more recently is rails engines versus rails generators. So I mean, my initial completely boiled down answer would be that generators are really, really, really good at small bits of code. It absolutely could work for what you're talking about. But I think the biggest pet you're going to run into is future updates because it's basically acknowledging out of the gate, future updates are out of the question.
