Inperson chats are a great way to discuss the change, but also build sort of relationships with the community. It's easy to lose tone and to not understand where people are coming from when you're just exchanging hetext messages. I would just encourage people to try it. You get a lot more engagement than you expect, and that it is also quite useful.
