How Do We Grow in the Body of Christ?

Witnessley says that to gain the growth in the divine life of christ, we must contact christ, contact the church and contact the shining stars. But why do we need the overcoming saints? Can we not grow just individually? We are isolated individuals in the eyes of god; we are members of the body. The more we contact christ, the church and the overcoming saints, the more light we receive.
