What Is the Story of the Mausoleum?

This was still during the cultural revolution, when in the last years of mao's rule, there was a kind of furor for revolutionizing chinese culture and customs. So he recognized that this signalled possibly a very important archaeological discovery - especially considering that these apparently chin era artifacts were not far from the mausoleum burial mound. But much to ja's relief, they did not destroy the items, but rather sent in resources and teams to excavate more and preserve what they found. Over the next two years, they opened three different pits around the area of the initial discovery. They quickly found 500 more statues, terracotta statues of soldiers in various states of preservation.
