Are You Criticizing Someone's Ideas?
I think it's a something of a common pathology, in the sense making spheres, that people regard the personality and the broader context of somebody's work and output to be off limits. And i my response to that would be, why? Like you can critique somebody's ideas, and you can also consider how their personal experience, o their broader world view is influencing the ideas that they are advocating. Very rarely are the two completely independent. To give an example: If you don't consider the personal histories of bret and eric weinstein, their experiences with academia, and their kind of narrative about what happened to them and how the institutions mistreated them, you don't properly understand their
