Emotions are connected with two other things, one of which is truth and another which is a morality. And if your emotion doesn't accurately represent the world a particular way, then your emotion is subject to being corrected. I could tell you you've got the wrong emotion. But once you fully accept that it's not really your grandmother's glass, and you wold come down and be like, ok, that's goodye.
