The History of General Relativity
There were interest there were some some people who wanted to fund anti-gravity and they got top scientists to start looking into it. They started playing with all of this advanced differential geometry that goes beyond einstein's mathematics but even einstein himself after he came out with general relativity in 1915 he still explored a lot of other ideas including some of these exotic forms of differential geometry such as torsion.
