Is there some nastalgia and familiarity driving what paul and jonathan are doing? I think that's something that we should definitely consider as plausible. But i don't have an argument that forecloses on the possibility that christianity might resurrect itself, says O'Neill. And for that reason, i strongly suspect, i do not foreclose, but i strongly suspect that the established religions do not have the machinery to make themselves valuable for most people in a way that's going to be needed to address the meta crisis.
