The process of formulating the message is all about what are the individual features of meaning that i need to use to have my intention successfully be realized. At the level of meaning, you're not able to diagnose the similarity that causes ambiguity in a language. And one of the ways that we seem to avoid ambiguous utterances in language is with pronouns. An english speaker will actually avoid using a pronoun when there's the thread of ambiguity due to the same gender.
