This chapter discusses the detection of gravitational waves and why it is significant. Gravitational waves are described as ripples in the fabric of space-time caused by the movement of massive objects. The chapter explains that when two black holes orbit each other and eventually merge, it creates a strong burst of detectable gravitational waves.
