The Letter to Barstlow From the Lichtenstein Foundation

The Lichtenstein Foundation has sent out cease and desist legal-like letters to people encouraging them not to pursue whatever they were pursuing. In Barstlow's case, they were telling him he did not have the right to reproduce images of Lichtenstein's works along with comparisons to the comic book companies. This generally draws lots of laughter because they also decided to defend the copyright of the comic books. And I don't think he actively sought approval back in the 60s as far as I know.
