The Virtue of Hope Is the Antidote to Despair and Presumption
i am curious to know what is the ionship of these three kinds of self knowledge, in augustine to how we think of self knowledge to day. i would like to conclude this evening with something that is more of an open question about our world to day than an actual conclusion. Are there anything that prevents or undermines religious faith? In his writings, augustine identifies two of these, despair and presumption. It's interesting that these are two opposite vices, but they have the same poisonous effect on faith.
