Valerie Paz-Sordan is a Peruvian American social scientist that works for Tulane's School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. The pandemic hit Peru before many other countries. In the space of 10 days, schools were shut and residents were ordered to stay home. Some three-quarters of workers in Lima are casual employees.
