The Work of Allyship Is Reconnecting With Yourself

Allyship is reconnecting with yourself. I feel like that's allyship. Like the work of allyship is realizing the perspective that you had was biased. And wow, I can see clearly and maybe that's hard at first, right? Or that's confronting, but it's powerful and you want to live in that truth. There are those who open their eyes and then still do nothing. Well, change is really hard.

Alicia Garza is an American Civil Rights organizer and writer best known for co-creating the international Black Lives Matter movement. Garza has become one of the most influential voices on the planet in a movement centered around the liberation of black people from authoritative systemic violence.
