Is the State a Prop for Larger Narratives?
There's a robust system of checks and accountability that would catch these people before their James Bond villain schemes reach fruition. People in really intense distress and extreme vulnerability, that's where the argument for government intervention gets stronger. I think there's more radical ideas idea that schizophrenia is just a lifestyle choice. Also because we have such a large mentally ill population in the jails and prisons because we took them out of hospitals large measure. And also, and also homelessness. Those types of ideas just don't resonate with those people.
