Pope Francis on the Ukrainian War in Ukraine
Nick Squire, Natalia Vasileva: Pope Francis has made a few interventions in this conflict. They haven't always been well received; his latest seems incredibly controversial. In an interview with an American Jesuit publication that came out last night, he was actually asked specifically why he has been unwilling to criticize Russian president. He said everyone is aware of the cruelty of Russian troops. But in his opinion, quote, the cruelers are perhaps those who are of Russia but are not of the Russian traditions,. Such as the Chechens, the Burias, and so on.
