The goal is to increase the yield. And so our first goal was to get to a stable platform that can ignite routinely. So we're going to work on repeating this experiment, and probably for me, my internal goal is getting to something like five megajoules over the next year. Getting to five in one year would be a pretty big deal. With it, that's scale. But the fuel is abundant. We've demonstrated that in the laboratory, we can achieve the conditions required to do this. Can you do it with gains of, you know, 40 or 50, not 1.5?Can you do it economically? Those are all important questions for a fusion energy future

Reid and Aria sit down with Dr. Kim Budil, director of the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, to talk about the future of fusion energy. Last December, Dr. Budil’s lab achieved fusion ignition. She explains what that historic breakthrough means, and what levers need to be pulled to go from that experiment to powering nations.
