The Status Quo Bias in Democracy

I recognize that in pointing out all the potential flaws in epistocracy, there's this weird asymmetry where like, democracy has tons of flaws. I end up thinking that's one of the strongest arguments for sticking with democracy. Democracy doesn't work equally well everywhere. It works really well in some places and really badly elsewhere. And then if it works, we might scale up. And if it doesn't work, we should stop.
