I Love, You Kno Sally as Much as I Love My Own Mother

When i was a younger woman, that would really infuriate me. And then i think it was maybe five years into writing this book where i began to think about, you know, these older white ladies who had spoken about these nannies and these maids and those cooks as family. I loved, you kno sally as much as i loved my own mother, et cetera, etcetera. What would it mean to have a multi-racial family? To have white members of the family who were in power over black members of theFamily?"
