The Global Village Coffee House Aesthetic

The global village coffee house aesthetic was big during the late 1980s up till the mid 1990s. Common motifs include woodcuts tribal slash ancient imagery and iconography moons, suns, spirals, hands, eyes, stars. Do you feel like that's the case with every aesthetic that you find like everything kind of has a political root or are there some that just like come out of the ether for non-series reasons? I don't know yet I mean it's tough to say that I guess all of them have like  politicized roots but definitely they're influenced by overall climates and cultural climates.
