The Importance of Temperature
The average color of starlight in the observable universe is a shade of yellowish white beige named cosmic latte. Most of the universe is indeed darker than daytime or full moon light but the notion that space's pitch black is wrong. The darkest places are always those in shadow. Our sun is only slightly denser than water overall only about a quarter of the density earth is and its upper regions that we actually see are even thinner than air.
