With any intervention we're doing in child development and medicine, the first step is to try to tease out when it's possible what is the fundamental underlying issue here. Some children thrive in a sort of mainstream setting with lots of supports. Other children are going to feel like they're in a more comfortable setting and get more intensive supports in a special education classroom.
