If a lot of foreigners want your dollars, then you can also print the whole lot of dollars and you're not going to affect the levels of the reservoir. If that does reverse, all of that comes flooding back at once. This is part of the reason why I worry about China going the gold route - it would so cleanly knock America out of the game without firing a shot.
