A Sense of Denial About Emotional Issues
A core feature of someone who actually is narcissistic is that inside they feel so empty and hollow and worthless. It's literally too much for them to take. They have to make sense of the world in some way. And if it can't be their fault, because they're good, it must be your fault. That explains a lot of their behavior.
