The Relationship Between Imagination and Realism
The realist ideal oposits a mode of perception and writing that is non generic. That moves beyond our received ways of thinking and writing. To that extent, as ape actual task, as a representational task, it requires creativity or newness. We might think of that as a slightly different kind of creativity to the kind of visionary creativity that certain artists would celebrate in fantasy genres.
