Napoleon and the Iberian Problem
In June 1808, a reluctant Joseph is unveiled as Jose I, King of Spain. In July he'll beat them at the battle of Vagram, northeast of Vienna. The Treaty of Schönbrunn robs Austria of its Adriatic Coast,. They must also give up 20% of their population. But the Iberian problem won't go away. After 12 years with Josephine, things are coming to a head. At age 46, it's unlikely that Josephine will bear him the child he subcraves. Napoleon deliberates, but ultimately demands the annulment he's long been threatening. His mother and sisters are overjoyed.
