A lot of freelancers do project work that we don't want in our portfolio for one reason or another. I think it comes down to who your ideal clients are and how they may feel about this work. If you think there's significant risk to your personal brand or your reputation, it's probably best to leave out the live sight. You might be able to show some concepts of how you got to this point as speck work. It doesn't mean that it can't be shown at all. It just maybe you're gong to show it in a different way.
