The Met's Attempt to Create Enemies in Society
It really feels like the Met just trying to create enemies in as many corners of society as possible. Can it ride it out? This was the first test of the new legislation around protest. It looked really, really un-british on what you might describe as a quintessentially British weekend. The defence that they used was that everything passed off smoothly. So that's really frightening, that's sort of pure totalitarianism. And actually that isn't coming from government, though the legislation is awful, but from the police themselves. I guess it's up to us whether we just let that slide.
