The King of Assyria, We're Friends
In second chronicles 28, verse 20, the king of assyria came unto him, to ahaz, and distressed him, but strengthened him. The irony here is that even though they buy, they t they paid for protection from assyria. In some ways, this is an echo of what just happened with the assyrians. You had to buy the bully. And now you think the gods of the syrians will help you, and they're going to hurt you. Instead. They can do you no good. Owi'll admit, at least there was a little more logic with ahaz than there was back with king amaziah. At least ahaz worshipping
