The Role of Homeostasis in Living in Unpredicted Environments

No living thing is governed by homeostasis. It's what distinguishes us from non-living things that we are actively working against entropy and seeking to stay within our viable balance. We are born with reflexes or instinctual behaviors that if we move out of, say, for example, you move out of your preferred temperature range, you get too hot. Then those reflexes kick in, you perspire and you pant, you breathe more rapidly and shallowly. Those two things cool you down. And the same applies to all the other homeostats that this is what the autonomic nervous system does. So it's got these automatic mechanisms reflexes which respond to homeostatic deviations
