The Descriptive Theory of History

The old-fashioned theory says this. Popper names are simply short for different descriptions. In the case of well-known historical figures, the relevant descriptions are the properties they're famous for. And what Cripke pointed out absolutely correctly is that we can refer using proper names even if we completely be descriptions. It's right to say the old version was basically demolished.
