In the early sixties, bedsty was a hub of inter racial activism around education. When cal jones decided to move from harlem to rochdale, he had his eye on those schools. Herb and sylvia plever organized their new neighbors to get what they were promised. It wasn't a matter of all wiped out it was a matter of al political muscle. I think there was a lot of pride in rockschie in the beginning about the sort of communty tit was. And i think people, bothi white and black, were proud that this was a place where natural integration, as they called it, unforthd integration, was taking place.
