The colors, red, white, and blue did not have meanings for America when it was adopted on the flag in 1777. However, the colors of the great seal did have specific meanings. Michigan has what appears to be an elk dancing with a moose over a banner that reads Circum Spice. Idaho and Michigan both have Elks on their flags.
