The Challenges of Increased Diversity
Sally Kohn: There needs to be a kind of division churn. We need to go through many divisions and it ties back to what you were saying earlier about how the challenges of increased diversity can simply be solved just easier said than done. She says that all you have to do is in the same way that you want to create new divisions to help bury old ones, you create new identities to make older ones less salient.Kohn: The very idea of reaching across the divide while reminding the other person why you're divided seems so counterintuitive. It's always some surprising orthogonal answer. You could think of community as a way to get your causes.
