The Unhappy Maid With the Hounds

A company of drunken squires rode through the moorlands. They came upon a cluster of hounds whimpering at the head of a deep dip, or goyl,. as we call it in England. There they saw an unhappy maiden with the hounds on her track. But standing over hugo and plucking at his throat, there stood a great black beast shaped like a hound. The three shrieked with fear and rode for dear life, still screaming across the moor. One, it is said, died that very night of what he had seen. And the other two were but broken men for the rest of their days.
