The Acts for Gets, but the Tree Remembers, by Janice Knight and Nellie Knight
One of my main sources of inspiration are conversations with intergenerational women in my life. When I was working on this film, it was actually a senior commission for Windrush and I really wanted to think about how a family does become radicalized. So many stories I've heard from my grandparents, I've spoken to different Caribbean elders, there is this kind of disjuncture between spectability politics where you feel you need to assimilate or keep yourself safe. And what to do when you're encountering hostile behavior?
