The Importance of Resistance to Government
The degree to which businesses are threatened by government at that time, as is true today in my observation today and as far back as I can remember, it's very, very real. The National Industrial Recovery Act imposed various codes of production on all the industries in the country, including the automotive industry. Henry Ford refused to go along with the act; Herbert Hoover was actually already complying with the act. And basically, everything that happens in Atlas Shrugged really did happen in the United States during the New Deal.
