The Relationship Between Husband and Wife in a Marriage
Even non European languages have this sort of formal and familiar u distinction. Usually, yeah, usually I see Usted or Chinese nian or Tagalog Kayo is like for people who are your elders or superior to you. In Spanish, you do sometimes use Usted with people who are in service positions but that's an emotional distance distinction as well. But I haven't heard of really this kind of symmetry.
