Frederick douglas was born a slave in maryland, never knew his mother. He learned to read and write under the tutelage of one of his owners wives. In 18 forty he said that kids don't see color because they're not segregated. His escape from slavery was really education. The minute he started reading about other things it opened up his mind. It also raised his frustration. There are statues to frederick douglass in ireland, scotland and london right now. That's how special this guy was.
