I saw him start to edge towards the door. I knew what he was trying to do. He wanted to close it and get some semblance of control back. Mum's eyes focus on something behind my head. And she screamed. It was a sound I had never heard her make in my whole life. Then came three bangs, one after another on the roof of the car. A terrible whistling sound like the howling of a gale.
