He joined the canadian army at 16, made and installed stained glass in churches. His forte was the visual arts; he had a girl friend for 17 years before she died of cancer. They'd liked each other a great deal, but it wasn't romantic for him. He would write these detailed letters to his twin brother, charley, mocking her lack of experience with men.
