The Importance of Education in Filmmaking
When he first moved to LA, that same Nikon F which had no meter in it, I would just take tons and tons of still pictures to try to teach myself lighting. Mostly it's a lot about how I would sort of call myself as a lighter and a cinematographer now which is it's a bit reactionary. If I can find something that already looks right and not touch it, that's like the best. And partly it's from seeking out movies that you appreciate and why is that person's cinematography or director style something that I'm keying in on. It's all about figuring out your own aesthetic I think.
