Oruk in the Middle East?
Oruk was a bustling city surrounded by rich agricultural land, palm groves and reed marshes in abundance. The earliest evidence I think we have for people living in southern Mesopotamia is probably the seventh millennium BC,. So much earlier actually than archaeologists imagine for many years. What we don't have at Oruk is really the evidence for the very earliest periods. Archaeologists simply haven't dug deep enough in that respect.
