Special Relativity - Space Time

Special relativity doesn't really change the question, why is there something rather than nothing? In general relativity, space time is not a mute, fixed, unchanging background on which everything else happens. Unlike in newtonian mechanics or special relativity,there is a singularity past which you can no longer push the equations. According to the equations of general relativity, the big bang is a beginning. It goes from past infinity to future infinity.
