Is There Any Meaning in the Consolidation of the Music Industry?
When you look at where the industry is, it's obviously deeply consolidated. Its heavily reliant on a handful of streaming services, which are themselves giant te companies. You see publishers selling their publishing catalogues to huge private equity firms. Investors are getting basically derivatives of ownership of parts of songs. If i had to summarize, musical creativity is dealing with the most difficult forces of finance and capitalism, and they're at kind of a standstill. We're just gang to wait for the next lawsuit to re structure some of this.
