We checked in with Ben a few weeks after the cyclones to get his assessment of how the Vanuatu mobile force had gone. He said they've done well and it's been great to see the cooperation between the ADF, VMF and France partners. HMAS Canberra was deployed quite quickly so I think they were here within three or four days of the cyclone and immediately got to work. The lack of understanding of politics threatening the immediate goal of more effective security forces is also undermining the overall relationship especially in a strategic context where you have competition in various countries.
