When we say diversity, oftentimes we think of racial diversity. But what are we aiming for? Are there goals that a college might have in mind when they're trying to create a diverse student body? How do they measure that? Akil: When you segregate out the conversation of college admissions and only want to focus on race as potentially a problem, there are all these other things,. sports, donors, faculty kids, wealthy, all of these other things that are being ignored because you're choosing to say race is a problem and everything else is fine.
