Spotify - Where Does It Leave the Brodcast Industry?
Spotify pays nothing to podcasts. So it has considerably lower costs when someone listens to a podcast, compared to when they to a song. What spodify is doing is quite scary for lots of independent podcasts. It could make podcasts pay to insure their new episodes are seen by their followers in a similar way to facebook. Or charge a monthly fee to podcasters. Could add inappropriate adverts between episodes and collect a hundred per cent of the money from them. This can be bad news for independent businesses. But where does this leave joe rogan? For spotify, it looks like a canny bet, a sensible decision. And even though it hasn't been complete plain sailing,
